Aims of Department of Crops are part of vision and mission of the Department in the framework of mission and vision of Faculty of Agriculture and those of the University.
First: At Educational Level
1- To prepare outstanding graduate able to solve problems he encounters in the field of crops and able to compete in local labor market .

Second: At Research Level :
1- To create research programs that increase agricultural production in quantity and quality, in addition to keeping the environment safe through using less pesticides and less chemical fertilizers, improving resistance of crops to different diseases and pests, and production of bio-fertilizers.
2- Cooperation with different specialized bodies inside and outside the University in scientific research and in supervising master’s and PhD theses.
3- To cooperate with other governmental bodies such as guidance and research centers, and agricultural directorates in Gharbia Governorate and in other governorates in order to exchange experiences and knowledge and to learn about the latest developments in the field of production, growth and improvement of crops.

Third: At Community Service Level
1- To participate in development of surrounding community through offering training courses in small productive projects to youth in the field of production, growth and improvement of crops.
2- To present scientific support via scientific consultations in the area of production, growth and improvement of crops.
3- To present awareness services to farmers and to solve their problems during field and guidance visits and scientific leaflets of the Department.

Fourth: At Environmental Level
1- To create research programs that keep the environment safe through:
   a. Using bio-fertilizers as partial or total alternative of chemical ones.
   b. To select and grow good species of crops with high ability to resist pests and diseases instead of using chemical pesticides.
