Reception of Students from the STEM Schools in Egypt at the Faculty of Agriculture – Tanta University

   Prof. Essawy Qassem Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture — Tanta University, received at his office on the morning of 10 March 2026 a group of students from the Gharbia School for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), which adopts a learning system based on scientific research and research projects.

   The meeting was attended by Prof. Sherif Gabr, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Amgad El-Gammal, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research. The visit aimed to introduce second-year secondary school students to the latest developments in the fields of agriculture and fisheries, within the framework of the faculty’s commitment to strengthening its community role and promoting scientific culture among pre-university students.

   The visit included a tour of the faculty to introduce students to several academic departments, in addition to a visit to the Tissue Culture Unit, where Engr. Asmaa Hafez, the unit’s supervisor, provided a simplified explanation of tissue culture techniques and seedling production.

   The tour also included visits to the research laboratory and the water and soil laboratory, where the Dean provided a brief overview of the uses of several scientific devices. In addition, the students were introduced to several research models related to rooftop agriculture, including aquaponics and hydroponics systems. Prof. Amgad El-Gamal provided a simplified explanation of these systems, helping to broaden the students’ scientific understanding and connect the theoretical concepts they study with practical applications through an engaging and interactive experience.
