At the Faculty of Agriculture, Tanta University, under the patronage of Prof. Essawy Qassem Mahmoud, Faculty Dean, and Prof. Amgad Abdel Ghaffar El-Gammal, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and hosted by the Department of Food Science and Technology, the public defense of the PhD dissertation submitted by Researcher Omaima Sabry Abdel Hakam El-Khatib, registered for the PhD degree in Agricultural Sciences at the Department of Food Science and Technology, was held on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, under the chairmanship of Prof. Magdy Shaheen. 

Dissertation Title:

Biosynthesis of Green Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (GnFe) Using Plant Extracts and Evaluation of Their Biological Activity on Some Foods

Supervisory Committee:

• Prof. Mohamed Basim Atta – Emeritus Professor of Food Industries, Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Tanta University (Main Supervisor).

• Prof. Essawy Qassem Mahmoud Rizk – Professor of Soil Chemistry and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tanta University.

Judgement and Discussion Committee:

The Judgement and Discussion Committee comprised a distinguished panel of scholars:

• Prof. Mohamed Basim Atta – Emeritus Professor of Food Industries, Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Tanta University (Member of the Supervisory Committee and Chair of the Committee).

• Prof. Essawy Qassem Mahmoud Rizk – Professor of Soil Chemistry and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tanta University (Member of the Supervisory Committee).

• Prof. Galal Abdel Fattah Ghazal – Emeritus Professor of Food Industries, Faculty of Agriculture, Benha University (External Examiner).

• Prof. Essam Mohamed El-Sebaie – Professor of Food Industries, Faculty of Agriculture, Kafrelsheikh University (External Examiner).

   During the defense, the researcher delivered a presentation outlining the content of the dissertation. The Judgement and Discussion Committee thoroughly discussed the research, and she successfully addressed all questions raised. The Committee commended both the quality of the presentation and the scientific merit of the dissertation and recommended awarding the researcher the PhD degree in Agricultural Sciences (Food Science and Technology).

   The defense was attended by the heads of the academic departments, faculty members, teaching assistants, researchers, postgraduate students from the department and the faculty, as well as the researcher's family and friends.
