Student Union

Aims of Student Union at the Faculty

  • To disseminate true university spirit among students and to develop spiritual and moral values and national awareness by getting used to leadership and expression opinion and expressing opinion in a responsible way.
  • To strengthen relations among students, faculty members and employees at the Faculty.
  • To discover and encourage talented students in right methods.
  • To propagate, encourage and form student groups.
  • To organize sport, social, scout, artistic and cultural activities at the Faculty.
  • To organize trips to know about the scientific, cultural, artistic and tourist aspects in Egypt.

Student Union Formation :
Student Union is headed by Faculty Dean or his representative faculty member. Its members include:

  • • Union Council Committees’ Chairpersons of faculty members .
  • • Secretaries and assistant secretaries of Union Council Committees. Students elect council members, and Secretary and Assistant Secretary for the Council.

Student Union Elections
Student Union elections are run annually according to the following rules:

  • University President determines election dates at the Faculty during November each year. At that time, a call for candidates is made and continues for three days.
  • To apply as a candidate, the application form prepared by the University is filled in and presented to Youth Welfare Office at the Faculty in three copies.
  • The Dean forms a committee to check application forms and to make sure that nomination conditions are met. The committee consists of five members as follows:
    • Two faculty members
    • Manager of Youth Welfare
    • Two members of top students in their class who are not candidates.
  • Faculty Administration announces names of candidates who meet nomination conditions in four days’ time before deadline of applying.
  • Then, appeals are received.
  • The final list of nominees is announced.
  • The Dean forms a number of supervising committees to supervise elections that include:
    • Two faculty members
    • One employee from Youth Welfare
    • One top student in his or her class who is not a candidate
    This committee count votes on day of election in attendance of a representative of each candidate who has not won by acclamation. A report on procedures of the election is written and signed by members of the committee and ratified by the Dean.
